PAP EXAMS

We offer a safe and inclusive space for our patients.

A PAP Exam is a procedure that removes a small sample of cells from the cervix. The purpose of a PAP exam is to look for changes to the cells in the cervix.

At Latitude Wellness the PAP Exam is completed by a registered Naturopath. The sample is then sent to Life Labs for review.

Who should get a PAP test?

Cervix screening is recommended for anyone with a cervix, including women and TTGD (Two-Spirit, transgender and gender diverse) people, between the ages of 25 and 69.

Why get a PAP test?

A Pap Exam is used to screen for changes in the cells in your cervix. A PAP Exam is primarily used for the following-

  • screen for and help diagnose precancerous conditions of the cervix and cervical cancer

  • help diagnose precancerous conditions of the vagina and vaginal cancer

  • diagnose infection and inflammation in the lower female reproductive tract

  • follow up after an abnormal Pap test or to monitor precancerous conditions

  • check for abnormal cell changes or to see if cancer comes back (recurs) after treatment

Cervical cancer is a disease in which the cells of the cervix become abnormal and start to grow uncontrollably, forming tumors. It is the fourth most common cancer in women globally. Rates of cervical cancer are among the fastest increasing among females in Canada but it is preventable through immunization and screening programs.
